With the exhibition “Playground”, Catherine Lopès-Curval transports us to the beach of Arromanches, which was one of the high places of the landing.
The work of Catherine Lopès-Curval is related to that of the Narrative Figuration artists of the 1960s. Her paintings have long denounced the submission of Women.
The blockhouses, vestiges of a tragic past, are covered with vegetation. The landing ramps still float in the distance on a calm sea. The trees are in bloom and children are playing on the beach. Life has resumed its rights.
