About the exhibition
The Gallery presents an exhibition of works by Alberto Magnelli, unanimously regarded as one of the leading artists and masters of 20th-century painting.
The exhibition features an exceptional painting from 1914, part of a series particularly cherished by Guillaume Apollinaire, which had a significant influence on the aesthetics of American painters in the 1960s and certain artists of narrative figuration.
The other paintings belong to the abstract periods of the 1930s, 1950s, and 1960s. In the 1930s, Magnelli developed a repertoire of abstract forms that went on to influence the geometric abstraction movement of the 1950s.
