Biography

Creator of an unusual world, Ignacio Iturria creates intimate scenes observing the situation of modern man with humor and tenderness. 

Ignacio Iturria is a Uruguayan painter born in Montevideo in 1949. He is known for his works combining elements of surrealism and everyday life, in which he explores memories, interior spaces and everyday objects. His unique style is characterized by a combination of figurative and abstract elements, often imbued with a dreamlike atmosphere.
Iturria studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Montevideo and began exhibiting in the 1970s. His work has been shown in prestigious galleries and museums around the world, notably in Latin America, Europe and the United States.
His works, which often include miniatures and meticulous details, invite viewers to enter intimate, poetic worlds.
In addition to his artistic success, Iturria has contributed to the promotion of art in Uruguay, notably through educational and artistic initiatives. His works can be found in numerous public and private collections, and he is considered one of Uruguay's most influential contemporary artists.
